Royal Saffron

Crocus sativus - The Silk Road Treasure

Herat saffron fields have been cultivated since the Persian Empire. Each autumn, stigmas are harvested by hand before sunrise - only three per flower. More precious by weight than gold, with a warmth and depth no other region on earth can replicate. Walmond uses it whole, never powdered.

The moment saffron from Herat touches warm butter, you understand why caravans crossed deserts to carry it.

Badam-e Kaghaz

Prunus dulcis — The Paper Almond of the North

Samangan is Afghanistan's single highest-yielding almond province — 4,500 hectares of native orchards spread across the northern foothills. The prized local variety is Badam-e Kaghaz, meaning Paper Almond, a soft-shell landrace so delicate the kernel can be freed by hand. Almost all genotypes grown here are native, never hybridised, passed down within the same farming families for centuries.

The shell is so thin it breaks in your palm. Everything this land endured to grow it — the cold, the dryness, the altitude — is stored inside that kernel.

Vitis vinifera - Sun-Dried, Unrefined

Afghanistan Kishmish raisins are exported to over 60 countries. Dried on rooftops under Kandahar fierce sun, these golden grapes concentrate into a sweetness that is complex, almost honey-like. They are Walmond only sweetener - no refined sugar, just centuries of sunlight.

Wild Pistachios

Pistacia vera - Ancient Grove, Unfarmed

These are not farmed pistachios. The groves of Badakhshan grow wild across ridges never commercially cultivated. Hand-harvested by local communities for generations. Bold, slightly smoky, almost resinous - you cannot grow this. You can only find it.

THE JOURNEY: FROM TRADITION TO INNOVATION

The Moment That Changed Everything

Our story is born from a global perspective. While we were rooted in a business family in Afghanistan, the drive for Walmond began thousands of miles away, during a routine search in a California supermarket.

We searched for an almond butter that tasted like the warm, rich, satisfying nuts we knew from our home—but found only a flavorless spread, mass-produced and stripped of its character. It was the physical embodiment of the gap between commercial efficiency and authentic taste.

That moment clarified our purpose: Why should the world settle for flavorless, industrial nut butters when Afghanistan produces the most nutrient-dense, flavorful heirloom nuts on earth?

That was the moment Walmond was born. We decided to stop settling and start sharing.

THE HERITAGE: THE ROOTS OF FLAVOR

The Ancient Lineage of Our Ingredients

We don't just source ingredients; we honor their lineage.

The unparalleled flavor in Walmond butters is the direct result of Afghanistan's unique terroir—the climate, soil, and altitude that shape our harvests.

Heirloom Varieties: We exclusively use heirloom Afghan almonds, wild-grown pistachios, and saffron that have been cultivated by families for generations. This ancient lineage ensures a natural richness and depth of flavor that hybrid, industrialized crops simply cannot replicate. Our dedication to this superior flavor is absolute.

We embarked on a rigorous quest to identify the perfect profile for our signature nut butter, tasting 27 different varieties of almonds before selecting the optimal blend of heirloom nuts that delivers Walmond's unmatched taste and texture.

Cultural Pairings: This heritage informs our innovation. Our Saffron Nuts Butter is a modern nod to the ancient royal diets that treasured saffron for vitality. Our Fruity line is inspired by the household ritual of pairing sun-dried raisins and nuts together for natural energy and delightful texture.

When you choose Walmond, you are not just consuming, you are participating in a movement that champions economic equity and cultural preservation.

BUSINESS THAT UPLIFTS: CREATING FINANCIAL DIGNITY

The Ancient Lineage of Our Ingredients

We believe a premium product must be built on ethical foundations. Walmond's success is intrinsically linked to the well-being of the communities we partner with.

Direct Farmer Support: We maintain 100% direct trade, ensuring our smallholder farmers receive immediate payment and are paid fair prices in advance of the harvest. This crucial practice allows them to invest in their land and preserves traditional, chemical-free farming techniques.

Empowering Women: Our manufacturing unit in Kabul is a place of pride and purpose. We actively create dignified and stable employment for local women, providing them with critical income, training, and a safe environment to support their families and gain financial independence.
